Large Groups
We can usually take about 20 to 25 people trekking at one time depending on the availability of guides, horses and other bookings.
Please note that since our standard prices are already much lower than other operators there are no further group discounts.
For groups of over 50 people we can discuss the possibility of a third activity, such as hiking or frisbee or volleyball. A large flat paddock is available for ball games. For school groups we have a sizable section of native trees and bush within 10 minutes flat walk that would be suitable for nature study.
Schools
Horse trekking and canoeing are an outdoor education experience suitable for all intermediate and secondary children as there is no particular level of fitness or ability required. It is especially appreciated by “town” children who often have no opportunity to experience close contact with horses.
Treks are an opportunity to travel across working farmland where it is usual to see a range of animals and birds on every trek. The alert child may see goats, hares, rabbits, peacocks, ducks, pheasants, turkeys, and of course cows and sheep. Children are treated to a view of the Waikato basin from high hill country and pass through areas of bush including a range of native trees.
Our school group treks have been particularly popular with visiting foreign students. We regularly host groups of Japanese and Korean children.
