Weekend Getaway
Escape from the city for a weekend and relax in the peaceful setting of a country environment. Come as a couple or bring the whole family to experience life on a real working dairy farm.
All packages include:
- 2 night’s accommodation in one of the family rooms.
- Use of all accommodation facilities.
- Free Internet including free wifi access.
- Free Sky TV with movies and sports.
- A two hour horse trek for every person (or a lead pony for very small children).
- Free use of the canoes on the lake.
- An evening walk to the gloworms.
- Saturday night - dinner and desert.
Along with your trek there are plenty of other activities you can take advantage of with this package including seasonal farm activities such as milking the cows and feeding the calves. You can go eeling in the creek, bike or walk around our many tracks and see all the farm animals and wildlife the countryside has to offer. Sit out on the deck at night and see how bright the stars are away from the city lights.
Once you’ve had your fill of the outdoors head back inside and put your feet up in front of the open fire and big screen TV while our hosts cook you a farm style dinner and dessert (Saturday night). If you want to do extra horse riding your host will book you in on request (space permitting).

Prices
Package Deals include two night’s accommodation, a two hour horse trek each, one farm style cooked dinner and dessert each plus use of canoes and other facilities.

*Normally to be used either Friday and Saturday nights or Saturday and Sunday nights. Farm style cooked dinner and dessert is provided on Saturday night only. During the school holidays we may also have weekday vacancies.

Bring your bike! Bring a bike of any kind, there are plenty of places to ride, both on the flat farm tracks and for the adventurous with mountain bikes there are endless hills and bush.
You can also bring a sleeping bag or heavy blanket and lay on the wooden deck looking at the beautiful night stars.
A communal lounge with Sky television and a DVD player is available for evenings after dinner. There are also board games, a large sheltered deck and other indoor activities for very wet days.
Bookings
Bookings are essential and late bookings are OK - if we have space we will fit you in even at short notice! Bookings will be considered confirmed on receipt of payment, internet banking preferred.
We welcome kids, friends, mums, aunties, grandmas, dads, uncles and granddads too! Thre is room on the lawn for those who prefer to bring a small tent and sleep outside.
Meals
We provide one evening meal, but for the rest of the time you can self cater using the fully equipped large modern kitchen facilities. Alternatively you are 20 minutes drive from Pirongia or Dinsdale where there is a selection of cafes and eateries. Raglan is just 30 minutes away too.
Arrivals and departures
We are as flexible as possible about arrival and departure times. If you will be arriving after 7.00pm, or at a time when the host will not be available, then we can tell you which room you are in and leave you to check yourself in and make yourself at home.
Unless there is someone booked into your room next (such as during the school holidays) we can be fleixible about the time you need to vacate your room. Please respect that this will not always be the case.
Unfortunately we are not able to offer a pickup and drop off service.
Children
Please remember to keep an eye on your younger children and remember that farms have different hazards than in town. The famstay has a low fence all the way around and there is a hill with lots of big trees out the back making a giant natural adventrue playground for the older ones.
What to bring
The following are just suggestions – please check the weather forecast for guidance on clothing
- Gumboots and/or old trainers
- Raincoat / leggings
- Warm jersey and beanie
- Peaked cap and sunscreen
- Layered, old outdoor clothes – jeans, tracksuit pants, shorts, tshirt, skivvy, jersey, socks
- At least one full change of clothes, preferably 2.
- Personal medication
- Plastic bag for wet or muddy clothes
- Personal water bottle
- Optional – bike of any kind
- Small torch
- Snacks and food
- Toiletries
- Warm pyjamas, dressing gown, slippers or jandals
- WiFi toys
- A good book
- A sense of humour and adventure
What to leave at home
Good clothes and shoes that need to stay clean and dry! We recommend that you leave all unnecessary valuables at home.
Please try not to lose your expensive sunglasses, cell phone, camera, mp3 player, iPod or car keys somewhere on our 550 acre farm!
Housekeeping
A phone is freely available for local calls – any time.
Some basic food and hygene products are available for sale in case you forgot something. Please ask the host.
